How we blew our customers out of the water by automating a crucial task.

Discover and Analysis
Business owners have a lot of overhead to deal with, and the monthly tasks that come with being compliant include a lot of exporting and sending statements. Our focus was on automating this routine to simplify their connection with their accountants and business partners.

Design and Implement
Customers can now set up to 3 emails to receive their company's bank statement. They can set up the cadence to weekly, biweekly and monthly. We based this granularity off the existing patterns for exporting statements. This also fed other strategies in the business around bank statement export: by allowing statements to be both downloaded and sent via email, we were now the only bank in the market offering on-the-go choices on how to receive statements.

Deliver and Monitor
Our goal was having 3000 users adopt to this in 3 months time – and what we got was over 3x that in as little time as 1 month since launch. A quick analysis of the inputted emails also validates our hypothesis that users will add their accountants emails in, simplifying their managerial journey and freeing up their time to focus on growing their business. We strived from Day 1 of this work to go above and beyond in our efforts to support business owners in their managerial journeys, simplifying their day-to-day. We had to work hand-in-hand with lots of different teams, setting an ambitious joint North Star for us and our customers. Our eagerness and earnestness to get buy-in, speed and close collaboration were the sure-fire ingredients to get this shipped in record time. We have now raised the bar for bank statement experiences in general, and a thorough review of all our current processes and flows are in place to make sure we keep the experience bar rising higher and higher.
